Tough walk down from the airport in a remote area in the wild trout section, a few miles below hangman's bridge. I would not recommend it as the trail was difficult to follow and I nearly got lost on the way back up the steep canyon. The fishing was ok. I thought there would be more fish but it seemed that the fish population was sparse and concentrated in the deeper pools. The sections in between seemed devoid of fish--maybe earlier in the season these spots held more fish. A very remote feeling being down there in the canyon and miles from any road or buildings. Got a double! There were thunderstorms nearby, but luckily I didn't get rained on much. I almost left before I hooked into this very nice rainbow, ~18". Glad I decided to fish one more pool before heading out. Unfortunately I didn't fish long because of the storms and felt like I was hiking more than fishing.
Ran into some random dude who seemed somewhat lost. I tried to help in what direction to get out of the canyon, but I was almost as lost as he. I had a feeling those deeper pools harbored some big dogs and it wouldn't surprise me if there were some much larger fish lurking in this section.
