Above Devil's Postpile National Monument is some good small stream trout fishing. Incredible scenery at ~8000'. Feels like you are truly in the wilderness. The Pacific Coast Trail parallels the river for a bit.
Caught a surprising number of brown trout while fishing a dry dropper setup. Had a few hits on the Foam Hopper but almost all the fish came on the Rubber Legs nymph below. Saw a good number of fish rising (for California) but no significant hatches. There were quite a few other fishermen out that day during the week. A great stream to get away from it all and just enjoy nature and exploring.

Love your videos. Beautiful trip. Novice fly fisherman trying to get back into it seriously. Headed to West Walker River in two weeks. Will stay in Bridgeport and fish two days. Might try towards Topaz Lake as well on the drive back to SAC. Studying correct flies to use online. Thanks for the vids. Great!

Thanks! Good luck on your trip. I think the fishing should be great on the West Walker and East Walker. Temperatures should be finally cooling off by then with the colder nights. Lots of stoneflies on the East and West Walker rivers.
