Gorgeous river in the Sierras. Too bad the fish are so small--that is the trade off sometimes for solitude. It was a very enjoyable day overall. What you don't see in the video is the dozens of dinks I caught all day. In the pocket water on almost ever cast you could feel very small fish trying to eat the Rubber Legs nymph that I had tied on but their mouths were too small to hook themselves.
This is the Sierra City to Goodyears Bar section in the upper river. Steep canyon and wilderness with wild fish. Good insect life but saw no hatches or fish rising. This river is know to have good dry fly fishing. The old gold mining small towns of Sierra City and Downieville looked like they had some nice bars/saloons. Would have like to have gotten a cold beer afterwards after the heat in the canyon but they were closed again recently due to Covid. Heard this area has a lot of rattlesnakes but I didn't see any that day.
