First time fishing in Idaho. I tried out the Teton river in the upper part of the canyon section near Lamont, ID. It was a very tough hike down with a few spots toward the end where you had to climb down a rock wall. A tough hike downriver, with little to no riverbank to walk along. Had to walk downstream in the river. Can't imagine trying to fish this earlier in the year without a boat. Caught my first Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout, but also got a couple of rainbows. This river is one of the last strongholds of the Yellowstone Cutthroat. I was hoping to catch a large one, but I think they reside a few miles upstream in the spring creek section. It was a much larger river than I had anticipated. You could not cross the river. Water was very clear. Tough hike back out after a very long day of fishing. Caught a lot of fish, just nothing large. The canyon was very remote and you really felt out in the wilderness.
